The NGO Maritime Humanitarian Rescue has reported that this new legislation legitimizes illegal returns and hinders rescue work in the central Mediterranean.

Confebask's economic leader, Pablo Martín, believes that the tariff agreement reached by the European Union  and the United States is "bad news" because "Basque companies will have difficulty competing." He sees only one positive aspect: that "after months of uncertainty, we know what to expect." However, he has advanced that it will have a significant impact on "relevant sectors for the Basque industry, such as steel, automotive, machine tools and the wine industry."
