At least 200 people have been arrested in London during a demonstration in support of Palestine Action
The Palestine Action Group has been legally classified as a "terrorist organization" in the United Kingdom since July, following the vandalisation of two aircraft at a local air force military base.
The London Police arrested at least 200 peoplethis Saturday in British Parliament Square during a massive demonstration in support of Palestine Action ,a group recently outlawed by the Labour Government on charges of disruptive and violent acts.
"At 15:40 local time (14:40 GMT) in the United Kingdom, 200 people have been arrested for expressing their support for a prohibited organization, but there may be more detainees," the local police said, adding that four people have been arrested on charges of attacking police officers.
Since July, Palestine Action has been legally classified as a "terrorist organization"in the United Kingdom, accused of vandalizing bi aircraft at a military base of the United Kingdom Royal Air Force, as well as blocking access to the headquarters of the Israeli defence company Elbit Systems in Bristol, in the south-west of England.
As a result of this prohibition, membership or sponsorship of a pro-Palestinian group is now criminalized as a criminal offence and may be punishable by up to 14 years' imprisonment under the 2000 Terrorism Act.
However, between 500 and 600 people have gathered in frontofParliament, convened by the Defend Our Juries Association, with the following messages: "I am against genocide. International to Palestine Action."
All of these people have been transferred to district prosecution sites and those who have confirmed their identityhave been releasedon bail on condition that they do not participate again in the protests in support of Palestine Action, while those who have refused todo so have been transferred to police stations in various parts of London.
The London Police today reinforced their security apparatus with officers from other cities in the United Kingdom, where several protests have been calledin the capital of Greater Britain during the weekend. They have taken into account, among other things, the riots in other mass demonstrations in support of the Palestine Action.
Along with the protest in Parliament Square, from Russell Square, thePalestinian National March has departed on its way to Downing Street, where the official residenceofBritish Prime Minister Keir Starmer is located.
This march has been peaceful, and only one person has been arrested, accused of showing a sign supporting the Palestine Action.
The rest of the participants have traveled the main streets of central London carrying Palestinian flags and banners calling for an end to the famine in Gaza. Among other things, they have denouncedtheUnited Kingdom as an "accomplice" to the Israeli genocide in the Gaza Strip and stressed that it is not a fair act to protect the bombing of children.
The following demonstrations have been called after the security cabinet of Binyamin Netanyahu's Israeli government gave the green light to a new military operation to take control of Gaza City, a decision strongly criticized by leaders of the international community.
