President Trump himself has confirmed the news and said that Putin and Zelensky "hate each other deeply," making talks difficult.

The CIA director travelled to Moscow this Tuesday to allegedly warn the Kremlin against attacking NATO allies.

For months now, the war front in Ukraine has been operating without much progress. Instead, air strikes are more frequent. Drone bombings of cities and strategic points have changed strategy, while Ukraine is increasing its offensive capability and hitting Russia as well. Olga Tarnovska and Albert Sort, two analysts based in Kiev and Moscow, talk to ETB about how this new large-scale war is going.

The Brovary district has been the scene of "large-scale" fires in some warehouses, as well as in the towns of Velyka Dymerka, Kvitneve and Peremoga. The latest attacks launched by Moscowwere in response to the announcement this Tuesday by Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelensky of new operations against Russia.

Russia has intensified its ballistic missile attacks on Ukraine in recent days, at a time when Kiev has fewer US-designed air defenses, killing at least one person and wounding a dozen.

In addition, more than 50 employees of e-commerce company Wildberries, known as Amazon in Russia, have been injured in the Tambov and Moscow regions.

The day before, attacks by the Russian Army on several cities in Ukraine resulted in at least 21 deaths and more than 100 injuries.

Moscow has described the bombing as a "response to the Kiev regime's terrorist attacks."

Similarly, each country will exchange 1,000 prisoners.

Putin and Ukraine's leader, Volodimir Zelenski, agreed to two similar short truce by 2025. In any case, Zelenski calls for a ceasefire of at least 30 days, which Moscow refuses.

In Kiev, a memorial ceremony was held last night in front of the Chernobyl Heroes Monument, 40 years after the worst nuclear disaster in history, which was built to remember the containment groups that went to the crashed reactor after the explosion.

The summit is scheduled for tomorrow in Cyprus because the rotating presidency of the Council of Europe corresponds to the third largest island in the Mediterranean Sea. On Friday they will discuss the war in the Middle East, with the presence of the High Representatives of Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Egypt and the Gulf. 

The Geneva meeting was expected to be trialogue with a Russian delegation to advance discussions on how to end the armed conflict. The next trialogue is scheduled for early March.

Europe's leading leaders, including Ursula von der Leyen and Antonio Costa , respectively, have expressed their full support for Volodimir Zelenski in Kiev this morning. Four years after Russia began its invasion of Ukraine, the President of the European Commission and the Council of Europe, Volodimir Zelensky, participated in the ceremony held at the Cathedral of Santa Sofia  and remembered the dead in the war.

However, the PP leader has already warned that his party will not support this possibility if the government does not provide him with specific data and explanations.

The Ministry of Defence has explained that they have responded to the "attack by the Kiev regime on the headquarters of the Russian president in the Novgorod region on 29 December."

The US will participate for the first time in a full face-to-face summit with European leaders and Zelensky to find a way out of the war in Ukraine.
