The City Council of San Sebastián has placed a plaque in memory of Diego Fernández-Montes, murdered by ETA in 1978, at an event on Miramar Street, with which 36 commemorative plates have already been placed in the city.

Jon Insausti, a 36-year-old Donostiarra, has been a councilman since 2015, having had several professional experiences in private companies.

The future mayor of Donostia-San Sebastián has expressed his "gratitude" for the trust placed in him and has stressed that at the moment  is dominated by "emotion, illusion and responsibility.

GBB President Euge Arrizabalaga has stated that Jon Insausti has "a deep knowledge of the city" as well as "capacity and enthusiasm." 

The Mayor of San Sebastian will leave office on 16 October, after the plenary session on the state of the city. Asked about the possibility of going to the Congress of Deputies, he has not closed the door to that possibility, but has made it clear that it is not for him to decide.

The mayor of Donostia-San Sebastián will speak on Radio Euskadi at 8:30 a.m. on his first interview after announcing his resignation. At 11:00 a.m., the PNV GBB will officially announce his replacement, which appears to be Jon Insausti.

The current mayor of Donostia-San Sebastián has appeared at a press conference at the City Hall of Donostia-San Sebastián, after ten years, to explain the reasons for leaving the Mayor's Office.

He was elected mayor of Donostia-San Sebastián in 2015, after 28 years, regaining the PNV's leadership in the city. During his tenure, Goia has promoted infrastructure to transform the city and faced challenges such as tourism. 

The current mayor of Donostia-San Sebastián, Eneko Goia (PNV), will resign after more than a decade as President of the City Council.

University students will demonstrate in the Basque capitals at 12:00. In Pamplona at 18:30 the main demonstration will depart from the Merindades and at 19:00 in Donostia, Vitoria-Gasteiz and Bilbao.

In the tense villages of Gipuzkoa, the new price range shall apply only to new contracts for large holders and flats which have not been rented or first marketed in the last five years.

Once the reference price index for Gipuzkoa has been published in the Official Gazette of the State, this Wednesday the rule that allows to limit the price of rent in the tense municipalities of Gipuzkoa enters into force. Irun, for a dwelling of 60 square metres, no more than 624 euros may be requested.

It will affect Donostia-San Sebastián, Irun, Errenteria, Lasarte-Oria and Zumaia. To determine the monthly income it will be necessary to include data such as cadastral reference or address of the property, energy certificate, plant and state of conservation, thus obtaining an objective margin of rental prices applicable to this property.
