Amnesty International calls on CAF to abandon the Jerusalem train project
Amnesty International calls for the withdrawal of the Jerusalem Light Train Project dio Construcciones y Auxiliario de Ferrocarriles (CAF) Beasain Group, which will connect the "illegal" settlements in West Jerusalem and east of the city.
Amnesty International has explained that the Jerusalem Light Rail (JLR) project "contributes to the maintenance, consolidation and occupation of illegal settlements and the annexation of East Jerusalem by Israel".
On the other hand, it has stated that the contract for this project is valued at EUR 1.8 billion and 'would be left with just over CAF 500 million', to which should be added ' 50% of the profits of the company that will manage the operation and maintenance of both lines, the total volume of which would be around EUR 1 billion'.
