Esan has explained that in the first ten months of the year an additional 375,000 hours have been made, "with an expenditure of between 8 and 9 million euros", which demonstrates "a system artificially sustained by permanent reinforcements" and "a model that relentlessly presses the ertzainas."
The union Esan of the Ertzaintza has denounced the "overeffort" of agents and the "structural deficit" resulting from the violation of labour rights.
It states that in the first ten months of the year 42,052 calls have been made to strengthen the service and 375,000 hours have been generated, "with an expenditure of 8-9 million euros".
"These numbers do not describe a planned organization, but a system artificially supported by permanent reinforcements. The Ertzaintza is operating thanks to the constant overeffort of its staff, not the proper structure, "he said in a statement.
Thus, Esan holds the Basque Government responsible for maintaining a model that "relentlessly squeezes" the Ertzainas. So reinforcements are "the rule, not the exception."

In his view, the system is maintained because the Ertzainas accept "continuous reinforcements to the detriment of personal life, health and reconciliation".
It therefore calls for the size of working groups, the reorganisation of services and the guarantee of full enjoyment of all labour rights, so that reinforcements are extraordinary.
