ArcelorMittal has announced its intention to extend the current UTE by three years
According to trade union sources, the company has explained that the measure is necessary to maintain this tool of flexibility according to production needs. The general secretary of CCOO in Asturias, José Manuel Castro ArcelorMittal, said on Thursday that the measure proposed by the company is "consistent with the situation in the European steel industry".
ArcelorMittal's management has proposed extending the Temporary Employment Regulation Dossier (ERTE) to cluster companies in Asturias, Sagunto (Valencia), Lesaka (Navarra) and Etxebarri (Bizkaia), and would address the measure in the AMDS distribution sector as a result of the drop in orders in some facilities.
According to trade union sources, the company has explained that the measure is necessary to maintain this flexibility tool according to production needs.
A committee of thirteen workers' representatives, based on the representation required by law (6 UGT, 4 CCOO, 2 ELA and 1 USO), will be responsible for concluding an agreement with the management of the company to extend the ERTE for production reasons.

Pending examination of the documentation submitted by the company, CCOO considers that the intention to extend the current TEU to three years "is not unreasonable".
The company, according to this union, has also expressed its intention to maintain the percentages of application and social assistance measures, which Castro considers "essential and correct". The management would maintain the conditions of the social plan approved in the current file, such as up to 90% of the gross wage guarantee and 100% of the pay and holiday supplement .
ArcelorMittal's UTE affects about 6,600 workers in various factories in the state.
The company refused this Thursday to talk about what it's negotiating with the unions until a deal is concluded.
