Volot will be able to raise or lower the price of tickets according to the cost of fuel, with a margin of up to EUR 14, one week before the flight
The company wants to avoid traditional fixed additives through the new variable Fair Travel Promise system, so that the airline can adjust the final price of the ticket to the cost of fuel.
The Volotea airline has launched a variable pricing adjustment system, being "Fair Travel Promise". Company has announced that with this system they will be able to adjust the cost of tickets up to a week before the start of the flight, depending on the price of the fuel.
The price of fuel is constantly changing, and with this new model, Volatea Airlines wants to stop applying traditional fixed additives.
When does it apply?
The price of fuel is checked seven days before the flight, and that's when the final price of the ticket is determined.
If the price of fuel increases, the airline applies an additional of up to EUR 14 per passenger and flight. On the contrary, if prices fall, the company undertakes to return the difference to customers up to that amount.
Passengers may voluntarily change their flight or cancel it free of charge four hours before takeoff.
Volotea has reported that the new system has been in place since March 16 and that 97% of customers have decided to confirm the trip and continue their plans, which the company said shows that the initiative "meets customer expectations and offers a fair alternative to fixed price increases."
According to the airline, the new model offers an "innovative" approach, combining eta "flexibility, fair treatment, freedom of choice and transparency."
