According to French President Emmanuel Macron, the measures agreed should "lower fuel prices."

According to data released by the Consumer and User Organization (OCU), the average price of a litre of petrol between 28 February and 28 September has risen from 1.48 to 1.935 euros, and diesel from 1.437 to 1.931 euros.

The tax cuts imposed by the Spanish Government have had a limited impact on the pockets of consumers, with sales in most cases being just a few days. 

These days there is a lot of French-registered car traffic at petrol stations in Gipuzkoa, near the border with Iparralde, where fuel prices are already around EUR 3 per litre. 

Professional diesel has increased by 227% since February, and the Ondarroa High Fishing Producers Association has reported that this increase must be assumed by fishermen because the wholesaler sets the purchase price for fish.

The tax rebate on diesel has doubled since today, while petrol has halved.

The NGO has called for taxes to be imposed on these companies to finance the energy transition to extraordinary profits and to tax large pollutants.

The price of diesel has risen by 30.78% in March as a result of the instability caused by the Iranian war and has set a new maximum, reaching an average of EUR 1.916 per litre in the ACV, its highest price since July 2022.
