Tubacex will implement a Temporary Employment Regulation Dossier (ERTE) in Álava due to the halting of the pipeline market. The company will notify the unions on Tuesday, June 16, when the measure will begin and how long it will last.
The company has described labour relations as "satisfactory" and recalled that earlier this month it signed a collective agreement with the trade union majority for the 2025-2029 Tubacex Tubos Stainless (TTI) plants in Llodio and Aceralava in Amurrio.
In principle, these two Alavese plants will be affected by the employment regulation, a total of 600 workers.
Situation in Ormuz
At the shareholders' meeting on 28 May, the management warned of possible problems with the extension of the blockades of the Strait of Hormuz, through which raw materials from Europe pass to the Abu Dhabi plant, where the pipelines for the Middle East end, where the company has the highest demand.
Tubacex made a net profit of €15.9 million last year, but in the first quarter of 2026, net profit fell to €1.3 million, 84% lower than in the same period of the previous year, due to the war in Iran.
