The Volkswagen group has reduced its operating profits by 98.7% in the first nine months of 2026, according to data released this Thursday by the German multinational, which has gone from earning EUR 5.408 billion in the same period last year to earning EUR 71 million this year, among other extraordinary items, due to the weakness of the Chinese market and international competition.
The group's turnover from January to September was EUR 233,378 million, 2.2% less than last year.
The operating result before the extraordinary items was EUR 8800 billion, with an operating margin of 3.8%, which the company considers insufficient to maintain the level of investment needed to cope with the transformation.
As a result, the group recorded post-tax losses of EUR 2.78 billion in the first nine months of the year, compared with EUR 3.405 billion in earnings between January and September 2025.
