The Department of Health of the Basque Government says that this year it has also offered as many jobs as possible in the categories of Primary Care, with 115 in Family and Community Medicine, 37 in Family and Community Nursing and 30 in Paediatrics.

During the course 2025-2026, Osakidetza will offer 577 specialized health training places for resident internal doctors and nurses (MIRs), 11 more than in the previous course, according to the Department of Health of the Basque Government.
The Department of Health said it has also offered as many jobs as possible in the categories associated with primary care, one of its "strategic priorities".
Specifically, there are 115 jobs in Family and Community Medicine , with an increase of 53% over thelast decade; 37 in Family and Community Nursing, quadrupling the figure of ten years ago; and 30 in Paediatrics, which is 66% more than then, according to the Government.
In addition, for thefirst time in this call, 5 posts are offered in Emergency Medicine, a new specialty to meet the needs of this area and lasting four years. The first two years will be common in the specialty of Family and Community Medicine.
Osakidetza has also managed to fill all the positions offered in 2024-2025. He recalled that 78.4% of the professionals in Family Medicine who completed the training period in 2024 and 78.7% of specialist nurses were hired.
The distribution of this course is as follows: 438 places for MIR doctors, 115 for nursing, 14 for clinical psychology, 9 for hospital pharmacy and one for hospital radiophysics. Territorially, 110 training places in Álava, 314 in Bizkaia and 153 in Gipuzkoa.
TheHealth Counselor, Alberto Martínez , has stressed that in the last decade the training offer for young people residing in the Basque Autonomous Community (CAV) has increased by 84% and that "sustained growth is essential to ensure the training of young people who will replace retired professionals".
