The Civil Guard has found a 78-year-old woman dead in the Navarre town of Zizur Mayor with a severe blow to the headand is investigating a possible case of male violence.
Sources of the investigation have informed EFE that it was the victim's husband who reported the death of his wife.
When the officers arrived, they found the woman with a heavy blow to the head, bleeding and lying on the bed.
Sources have specified that the man had an incoherent speechand that during the first inspection, agents found towels and pillows with blood signs in a container near the couple's home.
If this case is confirmed as a macho murder, 23 women have died of gender-based violence so far this year, 1,317 since 2003.
