The Ministry of Equality today condemned themurder of the 78-year-old woman of Mayor Izur (Navarre) and confirmed that this is a case ofgender-based violence. The victim's partner, an 85-year-old man, has been in prison since yesterday, Wednesday.
There were no complaints of gender-based violence against the alleged aggressor, as reported today by the Ministry in a statement, in which it explained that, confirmed this case, the women killed by male violence in the Spanish State this year have already been 23 , which is 1,317 since the beginning of the collection of this data, since 2003.
TheMinister for Equality, Ana Redondo García , and the Spanish Government delegate against Gender Violence , Carmen Martínez Perza , have expressed their "absolute rejection and rejection of this macho murder" and have conveyed their support to the families and friends of the victims.
The minister and representative have also called on the institutions and society as a whole to "make every effort to arrive on time and prevent further deaths", they added in a statement.
