A 52-year-old man died this Saturday as a result of the explosion in a bar in Vallecas (Madrid). At least 25 people have been injured, three of them seriously, according to the capital's emergency services.
The Madrid City Council firefighters have found the deceased man in a basement under more than a metre of sand and debris in the building where the explosion occurred, on Manuel Maroto Street in the Puente de Vallecas district.
The body was found early in the morning, with the help of the Spanish police canine unit, next to the bar 'Mis Tesoros'.
On Saturday evening the victim's relatives warned that the man was missing, so they resumed their search.
Along with this victim, 25 others are injured, three of them seriously, and two others are about to be seriously injured. They've all been taken to La Paz and October 12th hospitals.
The explosion was caused by a "gas buildup" that has affected the area of access to the housing lobby above the building where the bar is located, according to research sources.
