More than 200,000 people living in Navarre are being called upon to vaccinate in the flu and covid campaign that began this Monday, especially those over 60 years of age, at risk of complications, pregnant women and children under 5.
The aim is to strengthen the protection of the most vulnerable persons and health and socio-health personnel in order to reduce the impact of these diseases on people's health and to minimise the capacity to care for services.
This has been explained by the heads of the Department of Health, also attended by Counsellor Fernando Domínguez, at the opening of the campaign, which took place at a health centre in Barañáin, whose residents were the first to receive the vaccine.
Marian Nuin, managing director of the Navarro Institute of Public and Labour Health, has stressed the desirability of vaccinating vulnerable people and health and socio-health professionals.
It is generally appropriate for people over 70 years of age to receive both doses, the flu vaccine and the Covid vaccine, as well as for those in residential and disability centres, chronic patients and pregnant women.
On the other hand, the flu vaccine is recommended for people between 60 and 69 years of age, including children between 6 months and 5 years of age, health workers, caregivers or cohabitants of the elderly, nursery staff and those in direct contact with animals.
In the vaccination campaign against influenza 2025-2026, the Navarro Institute of Public and Labour Health aims to ensure that vaccination vaccination reaches 75% of the population over 60 years of age, with special attention to residents of residences, and in cases of pregnant women and children between 6 and 59 months of age, 60% vaccinate.
In the case of Covid, it aims to achieve 75% coverage in persons aged 70 or over and 60% in pregnant women.
