Young people from Plentzia High School have concentrated on the cancellation of the study trip
Uribe Kosta High School 4th ESO students have held a rally to protest against the suspension of their study trip. The school has suspended all extracurricular activities for continuing harassment of a teacher who has been reported to the Juvenile Prosecutor's Office.
The Bizkaia Juvenile Prosecutor's Office has opened aninvestigation into the harassment suffered over the years by a teacher at the Uribe Kosta Institute in Plentzia, who has repeatedly been subjected to harassment and assault in front of her home and who, according to the centre, has been harassing her for eight years.
The latest incidents occurred on the night of 31 October, when about 50 young people gathered near their homes throwing eggs and lemons. Among those involved are students about 12 or 13 years old, as confirmed by the Department of Safety. The Institute has specified that the Black Night attacks took place from 21:00 until after midnight, although a teacher has tried to exclude the group.
In a statement, the management has explained that this is not the first time that the teacher has been subjected to such attacks, and that in previous years firecrackers have also been thrown at the facade. The school recalls that a disabled family living in a nearby home has also suffered similar attacks, and that the teacher began to be harassed when she came out in her defense.
As a result of what happened, Uribe Kosta has decided to suspend all excursions and extra-curricular activities (including the 4th ESO study trip), a decision that has caused unrest among students, stating that "it is not fair for everyone to pay for what a few have done."
That is why, on Monday, a number of students in black have concentratedat 11 a.m. to call for a review of the measures taken. They have condemned the harassment suffered by the teacher, but they find the measure of cancelling the study trip very harsh.
