More than 600 Ertzainas will be present today to ensure the security of the Athletic-PSG party
As a result of the Champions League football match between Athletic Club and PSG, traffic will be cut off from 17:00 in the vicinity of San Mamés, the Euskalduna Bridge and the Sacred Heart.
About 600 Ertzainas will be watching the security of Bilbao and the surroundings of San Mamés today on theoccasion ofthe match between Athletic Club and Paris Saint-Germain, on the sixth day of the League of Champions A0, which will take place at the San Mamés stadium.
The security device has been in operation since this Tuesday and will gradually expand by the start of the game.
According to the Basque Government's Department of Security, some 2500 French fans are expected to come to Bilbao.
Visitors will enter San Mamés through the security fence, between the corner between Felipe Serrate and Sabino Arana and the entrance to the stadium.
The followers of the Paris Saint-Germain, as is customary in UEFA matches, will have a meeting point from which, in a march organised and guarded by the Ertzaintza, they will approach the field. The meeting point will be around 18:15 in the vicinity of the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao.
According to the Bizkaia Hotel Association, the Ertzaintza recommends bars not to use glass.
Traffic cuts from 17:00
In addition, traffic will be cut in the vicinity of San Mamés, the Euskalduna Bridge and the Sacred Heart, according to the Bilbao City Council.
Specifically, traffic closures will take place from 5 p.m. in Sabino Arana, between Sacred Heart Square and Zunzunegi Avenue. Vehicles will be able to leave Alameda Urquijo towards Zunzunegi Avenue.
From approximately 18:00 hours there will be traffic cuts along the visitor route: Alameda Mazarredo (Puppy), Plaza Euskadi, Ramón Rubial, Abandoibarra, Euskalduna Bridge, Plaza Sagrado Corazón and Gran Vía, to María Díaz de Haro.
From 19:00 the usual cuts and detours will be made around the football field. They will be maintained approximately until 21:00, after the entrance to the field has been completed. After the end of the match, the usual exit devices will be cut for approximately 45 minutes. The hours and cutting areas may be modified for security reasons.
