The First Section of the Navarre Court of Justice has sentenced a man from Lizarraldea to three years and five months' imprisonment for drug trafficking and injury to authority .
The events occurred in July 2024 in Pamplona/Iruña, when a National Police officer intercepted a 33-year-old man on the street suspected of drug trafficking, but fled.
With the help of another officer, they managed to capture and arrest the man, and according to the sentence, at that time the detainee attacked the officers with various blows. During the search, 1.66 grams of amphetamine, 0.61 grams of cocaine and 10 ecstasy pills were seized.
The sentence has been handed down by mutual agreement, following an agreement between the Public Prosecutor's Office, the private prosecution and the defence. The convicted person has been sentenced as a mitigating factor to the mental health problem arising from drug use. He may be suspended from imprisonment for three years if he continues treatment related to mental health.
He has also been sentenced to compensate the two police officers affected with 90 and 4,400 euros.
