The Ertzaintza will begin this week to punish for not having a fault or accident warning beacon, with a fine of EUR 80, as announced by the Basque Government's Department of Security.
Since 1 January last year, it has been compulsory to carry the V16 beacons in the vehicle and use them when necessary. Since the launch of this new measure, the Ertzaintza has provided information and carried out pedagogical work among drivers.
Following this information phase, the Ertzaintza will begin this week to punish offences related to the V16 beacon.

The V16 beacon is the only risk warning device authorized throughout the Spanish State, replacing emergency triangles.
On the other hand, the Department of Safety of the Basque Government recalls that from 26 January, personal mobility vehicles, including electric skateboards , which weigh more than 25 kilograms and can reach speeds of more than 14 km/h, must necessarily have liability insurance.
Failure to comply with this obligation entails a financial fine of EUR 300 when the skateboard is in circulation and EUR 200 when it is not in circulation.
For the time being, light personal vehicles which reach a maximum speed of between 6 and 25 km/h and weigh less than 25 kg, or between 6 and 14 km/h and weigh more than 25 kg, are excluded from this obligation.
