A person has been arrested in Vitoria-Gasteiz on charges of illegal trafficking in persons
According to the first investigations, people in the van paid money to leave France and move to different parts of the Spanish state.
A 29-year-old man has been arrested in Vitoria-Gasteiz on chargesof illegal traffickingin persons at a time when he was carrying eight undocumented men in a fugonet.
At 03:30 this morning, a patrol of the Ertzaintza Traffic Unit in Álava observed two vehicles standingon the A-1 Highway , opposite the Alavesa capital, at kilometre 355, in the direction of Burgos.
On seeing the Ertzaintza, one of the vehicles left. Officers have identified the driver of the other vehicle. Apparently, his van was damaged, and at first it was thought he was alone.
Anyway, the Ertzainas saw in the dark a person hiding onthe side of the road and when they came to their aid they found seven other people, all men.
According to the first investigations, people in the van paid money to leave France and move to different parts of the Spanish state.
The Ertzaintza continues to investigate the second vehicle next to the van. So many other people were in that van.
