UPV/EHU has approved the new statutes with the support of 73.7% of the Cloister and the official name will only be in Basque
Among the decisions taken is the registration of the Basque public university as the University of the Basque Country, only in Basque, in line with the new UPV brand presented in June last year.
On Tuesday, the Cloister of the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) approved the new statutes of the Basque public university with the supportof 73.7% of its members, as well as the designation of the institution at a meeting held in the Bizkaia Hall in Bilbao, which will be convened by the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU).
Thus, according to UPV/EHU sources in a note, the new statutes will allowfor greater representation of students and non-permanent teaching and research staff in the organs of the university, as well as greater autonomy and presence of the structures that make up the university.
According to the approved text, the UPV/EHU is "a pluralistic and feminist university , a defender of LGTBI+ values, a supporter of coexistence anda recognition of all the olectic kS that make up the community. "
In the same vein, the representation and weighting of students and non-permanent teaching and research staff in the election of the rector has been increased in the organs of the university.
Thus, the UPV/EHU Cloister has approved the draft statute submitted to the session, which has resolved nearly 100 allegations with very broad participation, with 85% of the 237 cloisters participating.
Similarly, the official name by which the cloisters voted by a majority of the three options has been the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU), with 106 votes in favour, so that, in line with the new mark presented in June last year, the university will henceforth be called entirely in Basque.
