The judge investigating the accident at the El Bocal Pass in Santander has summoned to testify as an investigator the industrial engineer of the subcontracted company that designed and signed the wooden runway project.

The decision is based on the documentation provided by the optional director of the work — currently head of the Cantabria Coast Demarcation — and the e-mails exchanged between those responsible for the work, warning that the safety coefficients of the wooden structure were below acceptable.
In addition, the judge has issued a calendar of statements. On May 15, experts in the case will appear to corroborate their reports and then several witnesses and investigators, including Coast technicians, project engineers and managers of the subcontracted company, will testify.
The case is still open while the technical responsibilities for the design and execution of the runway are under consideration.
