132 complaints have been filed for participation in the Christmas lottery sold by the Igorre rugby team
The Calves Rugby Club admitted that it had sold too many shares of 90,693, 225 more than it needed, a number that was awarded the Christmas Lottery hyurugar prize, which they now face at a hole of 2.2 million euros.
The Ertzaintza has so far received 132 complaints of non-payment of the Christmas lottery of the Calves Rugby Group in Igorre (Bizkaia), all of which are being investigated in the same report for an alleged crime of fraud, according to sources from the Department of Safety and Security.
The Calves Rugby Club admitted that it "mistakenly" sold more shares of the number 90,693 than it needed, 225 more. That number was the third Christmas Lottery prize, and now the club doesn't have enough money to pay the $2.2 million that the winners are asking for.
According to the club's management, they realized the mistake last Tuesday, when the prize money ran out, and the club has to pay 10,000 euros for each ticket awarded.
In total, they explained, they sold 1,425 shares, even though they were supposed to be 1,200. In 5 euro cards, 4 were at stake, and 1 euro was a donation.
The victims held an assembly on Thursday to coordinate the steps to be taken and to consider the possibility of taking joint legal action to demand money, which has so far resulted in 132 complaints.
