For the first time, the UPV will hold a joint graduation ceremony this Friday in San Mamés, which will be threatened by music groups Nøgen and Janus Lester and bertsolaris Maialen Lujanbio and Amets Arzallus.
San Mamés will host this Friday, June 12, the first joint graduation of the UPV/EHU of the 2025-2026 course, which will bring together more than 4,000 people and will feature musicians and groups Nøgen and Janus Lester and bertsolaris Maialen Lujanbio and Amets Arzallus.
In addition, the extensive programme includes a gesture of solidarity with Palestine , tributes to alumni and a space dedicated to science. Among the innovations, berets will bedistributed to new graduates instead of birdies. The massive event can be followed live in Orain from 6.30 p.m.
How many students will participate and where do they come from?
With the registration closed, the UPV/EHU has confirmed that nearly 4,000 senior and postgraduate students have reported that they will be in San Mamés. The territorial representation will be broad, with 68.5% of graduates from Bizkaia campus, 16.5% from Álava and 15% from Gipuzkoa.
This year's novelty: berets instead of birdies.
The "cathedral" of San Mamés will have a chair for the enrolled students and will be organized according to the faculties and areas of knowledge. The protocol will begin with a spectacular parade of young people with their respective academic bands of their respective disciplines. The main novelty of this year is that EHU will distribute berets to graduates instead of birdies.
Opposite will be the stage reserved for the authorities, and the doctors will take the first ranks to begin an unprecedented event.

What musical and cultural performances will there be?
Nøgen and Janus Lester , singer of Nøgen, Ane Negueruela, work in medicine after graduating from the UPV, while Janus Lester is led by Dr. Jokin Pinacho.
The oral tradition will also have its space, with bertsolaris Maialen Lujanbio and Amets Arzallus , both champions of the Euskal Herria Bertsolaris Championship, as well as former students of Fine Arts and Journalism.
Tribute to the alumni
Taking advantage of the importance of the event, the UPV/EHU Management will present the 2026 EHUalumniAwards, which will be awarded to professionals who honestly reflect the values of the institution, including architect Sofia Arribas, engineer Itxaso Ariza, lawyer Iñigo Lamarka, economist Teresa Madariaga, former footballer Iraia Iturregi and pioneer researcher Carmen Mijangos.
Scientific framework and solidarity with Palestine
On the other hand, science will also have its place with the conference "The Future of the Past" by Councilor Juan Ignacio Pérez Iglesias, and the UPV/EHU will maintain its firm human commitment at the beginning of the course, showing its support for the Palestinian people, so the singer of Gaza Sol Band will perform in an emotional way.

Students can enter for free by registering, but the deadline is over, while family members can purchase tickets for 19.95 euros on the UPV website.
In order to facilitate travel, special buses have been organised from Donostia-San Sebastián and Vitoria-Gasteiz for EUR 13, for which prior registration is essential and the deadline is this Wednesday, 10 June.
