The Department of Safety and Security has declared State 1 of the Emergency Phase for Forest Fires
In response to the high risk of forest fires caused by extreme heat in the CSC, the Department of Safety of the Basque Government has decreed State 1 of the emergency phase of the Forest Fire Emergency Plan.
The implementation of the Plan shall be the responsibility of the law enforcement authorities, whose action shall be coordinated through the Forest Fire Fortress Plans.
The decision makes it possible to strengthenthe monitoring, coordination and response of the resources integrated into the Basque Emergency Care System, in coordination with the competent institutions and services.
The Basque Government urges the public to exercise extreme caution and avoid any fire activity , especially in rural areas, forests or close to dry vegetation.
In addition, and on the occasion of the night of San Juan, the Directorate of Emergency and Meteorological Care recommends that the competent agencies analyse the situation in each municipality and, where appropriate, prevent the burning of fires in areas close to forest masses.
