San Sebastian commemorates the events of 31 August 1813
The city was burned and looted, and more than a thousand civilians were killed. The main events will be at dusk, and ETB will offer a special programme.

Today, but in 1813, San Sebastian was burned and looted by allied troops during the Spanish War of Independence. More than a thousand Donostiarras were killed among civilian casualties in this tragic episode in the history of the capital of Guipuzcoana.
In the morning, a mass will be held at St. Vincent's Church at 11:30, followed by a floral offering from 13:00.
Events have been scheduled all day, but the main ones will be at sunset. At 21:00, in Zuloaga Square,the burning and looting of the city\u00A0 will be staged.
Then, at 9:30 p.m., the fire will be depicted on the Promenade of the Priests, several churches in the city will ring bells, and the lights on August 31 willgo out and the candles will be lit.
As a collophon, they will make their way with torches between the porch of the Church of Saint Vincent and the Basilica of St. Mary, thus putting an end to a day full of symbolism and of special importance to the Donostiarras.
ETB will offer a special programme from 8:30 p.m., which can be followed live on ETB1 and ETB ONat 21:00 on ETB1.
