Global Sumud Flotilla, an initiative for Palestine that will mobilize ships around the world
The initiative brings together dozens of ships, 44 countries and thousands of volunteers to denounce the Israeli blockade of Gaza and to claim ports that "defend human rights".
The Global Sumud Flotilla is an international maritime initiative aimedat making the Palestinian force visible and denouncing the blockade of the Gaza Strip. This initiative, conceived as a global solidarity action , brings together dozens of vessels with the participationof 45 countries 44.
As its spokesman , Saif Abukesh, explains , it is much more than a one-off proclamation: "We not only announce the mission itself, but announce the construction of a global solidarity movement working with all oppressed peoples."
In this regard, the spokesman has stressed that the ship is not intended to be an isolated gesture, but a permanent organizational processlinking ports, institutions and citizens in thedefenceofhuman rights . "There will be dozens of ships," Abukesh said.
The public hearing in Barcelona has brought together some 800 people, as the organizers will leave the Catalan city on 31 Augustat 14:00, the main pillar of the Global Sumud Flotilla.
Basque mobilizations
In the Basque Country, a number of mobilizations have been organized to support Palestine and the Global Sumud Flotilla ; one of the last, in Vitoria-Gasteiz,announcing rallies and demonstrations, as well as a march in the Bilbao River on 6 September and a boycott of the Cycling Tour to Navarre.
