UEFA is considering the possibility of a vote on the suspension of European competitions by Israel following the proliferation of requests for action by national federations and the United Nations. UN experts this week called for Israel to be excluded from international football.

The president of the Palestinian Football Association, Jibril Rajoub, has called for sanctions: "Israel has violated the principles, values and statutes of FIFA, so I think it should be punished."
Next month, Israel will face Norway and Italy in the qualifying phase for the World Cup. The Israeli federation has indicated that they have no record of a possible suspension and are still in preparation for these matches.
