The documentary series Soft Stone proposes a critical and contemporary reading of art from a feminist perspective
The six-episode documentary series "Soft Stone", written and directed by Tamara García, is shown on the platforms of Primeran and ETB ON EITB from June 30.
The Soft Stone proposes an innovative look, in Basque, at contemporary art. Over six chapters, the work runs from 1960 to 2000, to explore how the official account of art has been built and the voices that have been left out of it.
The work proposes a critical and contemporary reading of art from a feminist perspective, as explained by those responsible for the project. The series questions concepts traditionally considered neutral, such as quality, authorship or artistic relevance, and highlights how they have been conditioned by social, political and gender-related factors.
Through interviews with artists, commissioners and scholars, the documentary series seeks to place at the centre historically invisible narratives, using archival material and an aesthetic proposal based on collage.
