The Basque Government urges the Ministry of Health to honour its commitment to reform cohesion funds

The Minister of Health of the Basque Government, Alberto Martínez, asked the Ministry of Health on Friday to fulfil its commitment to the Basque Country to implement the model of managing cohesion funds.
The Department of Health has considered it unacceptable for the Ministry to continue to do nothing about the deficiencies of this system while continuing to demand payment of settlements. In September, the Basque Country received an invoice of 51 million euros in relation to the funds of 2023 and 2024. In this regard, the Basque Government has stressed that it will not pay this amount as long as there is no legal coverage, no rules and no fair compensation model to justify it.
Martinez has travelled to Madrid to participate in the meeting of the Interterritorial Council of the National Health System.
