The PPhas requested on Wednesday the dismissal or resignation of the Deputy Security Officer of the Basque Government, Ricardo Ituarte , for awarding the contract for the purchase of 300 BMW vehicles for the Ertzaintza when he was Deputy Administrator of Administration and Services, despite having received a "devastating report againstthe Office of Economic Control of the Basque Government ".
At a hearing in Vitoria-Gasteiz, PP Congresswoman Ainhoa Domaica referred to this vehicle contract for the Ertzaintza, which was awarded for 21 million euros , which was paid with the financing of the Next Generation funds, and stressed that there have been "significant delays"in this contract.
Domaica has stated that they requested the appearance of theSecurity Adviser, Bingen Zupiria , to provide "detailed information " on this contract and "explain the reasons for the unexpected dismissal of a person who has been working in the Department for 38 years." Zupiria appeared in the Basque Parliament on 18 June to clarify the suspicions that were being raised about this contract.
In this context, the PP parliamentarian released on Wednesday the report of the Office of Economic Control, which makes "very important" statements that "call into question the price, concurrence and conditions required to carry out this contract for the purchase of 300 cars for the Ertzaintza ".
In addition, Domaica notes that the report calls into question the economic valuation, technical characteristics and, in particular, motorization of vehicles proposed by the Department, adding that "the Department of Safety and Security does not indicate the advantages of the award criteria chosen, as they are not motivated or justified".
