The Israeli Government has responded immediately to the package of measuresannounced this Wednesday by the President of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sánchez, to try to stop the "genocide"in Gaza and has denounced them as an attempt to" distract attention "from corruption scandals and has announced that it will impose sanctions against the Third Vice-President of the Government, Yolanda Díaz, and the Minister of Youth, Sira Rego.
Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar has responded and described the measures as anti-Semitism, accusing Sanchez of trying to divert attention from the corruption cases of his party and government. "It is obvious that the corrupt government of Sanchez has done this to divert attention from serious corruption cases through constant anti-Semitic attacks on Israel," he said.
He has also announced sanctions against Diaz and Rego, considering that they have crossed "all red lines". In particular, both have been prohibited from entering Israel and from maintaining relations with the Government.
According to Sa'ar, it is "obvious" that, as head of the Sintre, Diaz "is taking advantage of President Sanchez's political weakness and, step by step, is pushing him to establish his anti-Israeli and anti-Semitic vision."
However, the Second Vice-President of the Government, Yolanda Diaz, has said that she is "proud" that Israel has banned her from entering a state that is "committing genocide" and has stressed that they will continue to "fight for the rights of the Palestinian people."
Unacceptable measures
The Spanish Government's Foreign Minister, José Manuel Albarés, has called for consultations with the Tel Aviv Embassy in the State on the veto on the entry of Yolanda Díaz and Sira Rego into Israel.
The Minister has described as "unacceptable" the measures taken by Netanyahu to combat Sanchez's actions to end the "genocide" in Gaza.
