Chivite has stressed that Cerdán's imprisonment "has nothing to do" with Belate's work
The President of the Government of Navarre believes that the PSOE deputy and former secretary of organization was "concerned" about infrastructure in Navarre.
The President of the Government of Navarre, María Chivite, wanted to make it clear that the process that led to the imprisonment of former PSOE deputy and secretary of organization Santos Cerdán "has nothing to do" with the award of the works of the Belate tunnels.
Asked by UPN Senator Maria Caballero about Cerdán's alleged interest in these works, the president replied that Cerdán was "concerned" about the infrastructure in Navarre.
Chivite has denied, in the Senate Committee of Inquiry into the 'Koldo case', having influenced the hiring of public works companies.
"I have no influence on recruitment decisions," the President of the Foral Government stressed.
Chivite has claimed that he "never" pressured those in charge of his administration to award the works of the Belate tunnels and recalled that more than 1,000 works have been tendered since he was president.
He has said that he expects this award procedure to have been carried out with "full legal certainty" and has charged Caballero because the Chamber of Auditors (Court of Auditors of Navarre) and the Intervention have only detected "irregularities: the word 'illegality' does not appear".
