The opposition parties in Santurtzi have unanimously accused the mayor of holding them responsible for the resignation

The resignation of Mayor Karmele Tubilla has been taken by surprise by opposition parties in Santurtzi City Council, and all groups have strongly criticised the fact that jeltzal leaders hold them responsible for the situation.  

In a statement released this morning, Tubilla announced his resignation after clarifying that he is leaving office for "personal, professional and political reasons," accusing opposition parties ofusing PNV to damagethe image of the mayor .

In November, Tubillaremoved Sonia Lopez fromher  duties after breaking her trust in Sonia LopezA0S, after the unions denounced the alleged leak of a promotion examination to a police officer. 

At today's plenary session, this was one of the topics under discussion, and the news of the resignation was released an hour earlier. 

EH Bildu: "The PNV era is over"

EH Bildu 's councilwoman, Naiara Gutierrez, believes that the mayor's resignation shows that "the PNV era has run out." In her words, decisions are being made "in offices outside" Santurtzi, a situation that shows that management has failed. 

Gutierrez has been surprised that the mayor has blamed the opposition for the resignation. He has recalled that "ruling in a minority is a legitimate option," but that "agreements" are essential to move forward, something that has not existed in Santurtzi, he said. 

He also reported Tubilla hiding information about the alleged leak. 

PSE-EE: "The PNV project is exhausted."

In the same vein, PSE-EE Councilman Juan Andrade has assured that it was the mayor and the jeltzale group themselves who "tarnished" the image of the PNV. 

The Socialist representative has also acknowledged that he has received the news "by surprise" and has criticized the fact that he has heard it from the media.  So he has said that the way he has resigned has not been right; he has compared the way he has left with what he has had when he has been in charge to indicate that he has shown "little class". "Without saying anything and with the fan running, leaving all responsibility behind the opposition." 

PP: "Election tactics"

Finally, PP Councilman Luis Ángel Urdiales, who smells like an election to the mayor's resignation, believes that it is "a movement given by chance." "A movement to cover up the lack of management and project," he said. 

He also points out that it was a "late, bad, and crawling" step. In his opinion, there are no "personal or professional reasons behind the decision." "He doesn't want to explain what happened with the leak."
