Tomorrow marks 26 years since ETA murdered socialist leader Fernando Buesa and his bodyguard Jorge Díez .
During the tribute organized by the Fernado Buesa Foundation, Sara Buesa, daughter of Fernando Buesa, referred to the pain suffered and stressed that the victims feel "a lack of social embrace" and that they are "hurt by the echo of legitimization of terrorism".
He recalled that those who murdered Jorge Buesa and Jorge Díez got parole last year and wondered if they had any criticism of their militancy.
Buesa, who has said he knew that the time had to "come" to release those convicted of the attack on his father and escort or to enjoy prison benefits, has wondered whether, after 25 years in prison, his father's killers make a "critical reading" of ETA militancy, whether they "question the killing of people" and whether they are able to feel "the terrible damage they caused us."
"There are open wounds that hurt, I recognize that reality will always be imperfect in our eyes, that it is impossible to have compensation equal to our harm," he said, adding that "we have to live with difficult situations, even if it hurts, because we believe in the democratic principles that we have to live together."
