Otegi has claimed the municipal model of EH Bildu because it "gives security" to citizens

EH Bildu's mayors, councillors and other municipal officials met this Saturday at the Fourth Municipal Conference in Burlada, where Secretary General Arnaldo Otegi stated that the coalition's municipal model "provides security" for citizens.

For the sovereign left, the City Council is "a tool for caring for people." Focused on housing, an assembly is being held at the cultural house in Burlada, which began with a minute's silence forthe macho crime that took place this Friday in Sarriguren. 

The Mayor of Burlada, Berta Arizcuren, welcomes the attendees and puts on the table the concern about housing, which will be the main theme of the congress.

Then Arnaldo Otegi took the floor and began his speech by condemning the macho crimeand underlining the coalition's commitment to combating male violence. He also referred to Gaza, Kurdistan, Venezuela and Cuba as "anti-imperialists".

Otegi has addressed the attendees by saying that with their daily work they are "a reflection of the Basque Republic of the future", that they promote the social and national policies of that republic "being a host country, speaking in Basque, promoting the fight against racism, proclaiming our nation, implementing the most advanced social policies in the field of housing and care".

Faced with the "frivolity" that prevails in politics in these times, Otegi has said that politics can only be "caring for and protecting" citizens and the most vulnerable sectors of society .

In the face of "anxiety," he has called for "calm analysis and long-term vision," and criticized those who believe that "everything is a sustained election campaign."

In this context, it has claimed that EH Bildu is "a group of workers working for the construction of the Basque Republic"and has reiterated that EH Bildu practices" a municipality that is at the forefront of national construction and the defence of freedoms and is at the service of the grass-roots classes and social majorities ".

Tired of hearing that "there is no difference between right and left," he has pointed out that the fundamental difference is that where the left see social needs, the right sees business opportunities.Education, health and equality "are notneeds to do business, but needs to be cared for, cared for and guaranteed, "he has stressed, adding that for them housing is at the center of policies and is perceived as a" right "to those who see it as a business.



He has therefore concluded that the municipal model of his party offers "security in the lives of people of republican, socialist and independence inspiration."

IV. The EH Bildu Municipal Conference has been held just one year after the municipal elections. Otegi has acknowledged that he is "calm, happy, confident," while feeling "a lot of responsibility." In this regard, he has stressed that "EH Bildu is a quiet left smiling, a broad, pluralistic front, capable of coming out of the moment and the immediate, to look at things with a strategic perspective."

Following Otegi's opening speech, the participants will discuss and deepen the priority lines to be followed at the end of the legislature, with particular emphasis on housing policies.

The coalition has also reported that they will learn about experiences from other countries such as Finland and Catalonia.
