Etchegaray sees no credit for the left-wing alliance they have formed in Bayonne
One day after the Bayonne left-wing forces announced a historic alliance for the second round of the municipal elections, the current centrist Jean-René Etchegaray has been very critical of this agreement, calling it an alliance without political credibility and recalling, among other things, the opposition of the Jacobin socialist Henri Etcheto to the Basque Urban College.
In view of the votes on Sunday, Etchegaray has sent several messages to the electorate. He has told the nationalists not to forget Etcheto's attitude towards the Basque Centre. "This is an important issue for both Baiona and the whole of Iparralde." He does not understand how the nationalists have agreed with the socialists.
The centrist leader has also addressed the far-right voters and urged them not to "mingle with the enemy" and "look after their interests."
For his part, far-right candidate Pascall Lesellier has also stressed that the left-wing alliance brings together different views and is not credible.
Lesellier will continue to present an "alternative project" to the far-right in the coming days, and his goal is to win "one or two seats" in the village house of Bayonne in Sunday's election.
And the head of the list of the third group of the left (Instumitua France), Sandra Pereira, has not directly asked for a vote for the joint list of Iriart and Etcheto, but has told voters that the right must be confronted.
With this scenario, there is a strong competition in Bayonne in the second round.
