UPN will propose that Navarre assume responsibility for managing the work permits of migrant persons in orderto speed up procedures and adapt them to the needs of the business fabric of the foral community, as announced on Monday by the party's president, Cristina Ibarrola, within the framework of a sectoral forum on migration, in which she has argued that this transfer would allow for "closer and more efficient" management .
As he explained to the media, this measure responds to the need to fill job vacancies in the various sectors and to facilitate the entry of migrant workers into the labour market. Ibarrola recalled that the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country has already assumed this competence and considers it to be "fully in line with the foralist sentiment" of Navarre.
The regionalist leader has framed this proposal in a broader strategy of claiming own competences, such as airport management or driving licence examinations, and has stressed that processing from Navarre would mean reducing bureaucracy and avoiding current delays , as foreign offices are "completely collapsed."
In addition, UPN will present other measures such as adjusting aid to municipalities according to the volume of migrants, speeding up the approval of qualifications and amending state laws to facilitate recruitment in countries of origin.
