EH Bildu proposes to universalize the Basque language and strengthen its use in all areas
The coalition has put forward a new language policy to overcome the stalemate and ensure the use of the Basque language in all areas of life. Then it proposes to move from the Euskaldunization of people to that of space.
EH Bildu has adopted the strategic document "New language policy to open a new phase of revitalization", with 97.29% of the bases, in which he proposes to give the Basque Country a new legal status that recognizes it as a national language and strengthens its presence in all areas.
The text is based on a clear diagnosis:the process of revitalizing the Basque language is at a standstill , which requires a "large-scale transformation". Faced with this, the coalition advocates a profound renewal of the legal and political framework governing the use of language.
Among its main approaches, EH Bildu proposes to move from the Euskaldunization of people to the Euskaldunization of spaces, combining the guarantee of individual linguistic rights with a collective vision that promotes the social use of the Basque language.
In this regard, the party is committed to adapting the legal structure of the Basque Country as a whole in order to shield the progress made, avoid setbacks and equate the status of the Basque Country with that of the hegemonic languages. It also proposes that progress be made at all institutional levels, from the Council of Europe and the European Parliament to the legislation of the Spanish and French States.
In Navarre, EH Bildu advocates overcoming linguistic zoning and ending administrative division , promoting the recognition of the Basque language as an official language throughout the territory.
The document also sets out strategic lines such as amending the Basque Country Act, amending the system of administrative language profiles and promoting the recognition of the Basque Country in the European institutions.
At the state level, the coalition has proposed the inclusion of the linguistic perspective in Spanish legislation through initiatives such as an organic law to guarantee multilingualism and linguistic rights before State institutions.
Finally, EH Bildu stresses the importance of migration in this process and proposes to develop reception policies that make the Basque Countryan instrument of integration and opportunity , especially for disadvantaged groups.
The party has concluded that a country agreement is "more necessary than ever" to open a new phase in the revitalization of the Basque Country and has ensured that it will work to achieve it.
