The PNV admits that it has had a relationship with the Spanish Government to reconnect the situation of Tubos Reunidos, but states that it has no connection with the Leire case
Jeltzale training has pointed out that the meetings held to deal with the situation of the Alavesa company were part of the work carried out to support strategic companies. On the other hand, the PP has wondered whether this relationship with the PSOE "conditions" that "we continue to support Pedro Sánchez".
The PNV has acknowledged that it held meetings and contacts with membersofthe Spanish Government to inquire about the situation of Tubos Reunidos, but has denied any connection with the Leire networkinvestigated by the Audiencia National.
The party's reaction comes after a report by the Central Operational Unit (UCO) of the Civil Guard confused the PNV with the Leire case, in which the party's then chairman, Andoni Ortuzar, took an interest in the subsidies to Tubos Reunion.
The investigation conducted by Judge Santiago Pedraz ofthe National High Court is investigating an alleged plot that could have affected judicial proceedings and the granting of public aid Among the issues dealt with is the payment of a commission related to the loan of 112.9 million euros received by Tubos Reunidos.
Sources of the PNV have argued that contacts with the Spanish Government and with various companies are due to their willingness to support companies that they consider strategic for the Basque economy. In this regard, they have ensured that contacts have taken place in both the publicandprivate spheres in order to deal with the situation of companies with significant impact on employment and the industrial fabric.
According to the party, in defence of the welfare of the Basque people, the situation of companies with a large number of direct and indirect jobs must be closely monitored.
The jeltzales recalled that they have also been involved in matters relating to companies such as Talgo, Astilleros Balenciaga, BSH or CAF, through meetings with institutional representatives and contacts with the companies concerned.
The PNV has ensured that it will continue to make such efforts when it deems it necessary and has stated that other parties, both Basque and state, are also interested in the situation of companies.
However, the party has sought to distance itself from the activities investigated by the National High Court. The party has stressed that it has no responsibility or connection with actions carried out simultaneously by third parties in relation to the group formed, according to the investigation, by former socialist militant Leire Díez, former SEPI President Vicente Fernández and businessman Antxon Alonso.
The PP asks for explanations
The PP leader, Cuca Gamarra, has asked the PNV to explain the inclusion of Leire in the case file and whether this relationship with the PSOE "conditions" the continuity of support for Pedro Sánchez.
Asked by journalists, Gamarra has asked the PNV, now led by Aitor Esteban, to give "explanations" and has indicated that the PP will wait for these explanations "if their relationship with the Socialist Party is making it conditional on them continuing to support Pedro Sánchez."
