The National Police has arrested six people in Vitoria-Gasteiz for allegedly attempting to attack a young man wearing a Spanish team T-shirt for a hate crime, sources close to the investigation have reported.
The events took place a few days before the football World Cup, when the young man was wearing a Spanish team T-shirt , when he was reprimanded and followed by a group of people, so he took refuge at the National Police station. The investigation has led to the arrest of six men, one of them on Monday and five on Tuesday in the Alavesa capital.
Aske, an organization outside the official abertzale left, has claimed that the events took place on 13 June, when a rally wasbeing held in support of the official Basque selection, which, according to his account, was a struggle provoked by the young man.
