Marlaska strengthens security measures in Ceuta and calls for cooperation with Morocco
The Minister of the Interior has announced the dispatch of 45 additional police officers to Ceuta in order to strengthen public security. Normalcy in the city has not yet been fully restored, despite the return of most migrants who entered unlawfully.

In Ceuta, he said that cooperation with Moroccowas essential in order to prevent the recurrence of a massive influx of migrants such as the one that occurred at the end of July, stressing that the relationship between the two countries was close, loyal and based on trust, and stressed the importance of such cooperation in the fight against criminal groups engaged in migration trafficking.
Marlaska made these statements during his second visit to Ceuta since 30 July, after the Moroccan Minister of Justice, Abdellatif Ouahbi, stated on Wednesday that he is considering suspending the extradition agreement that Morocco has with Spain because of problems in handing over persons requested by the Moroccan courts.

Twenty officials of the Central Aliens and Borders Brigade will cooperate with the Asylum and Protection Office in processing applications for international protection.
With this support, Marlaska has pointed out that there are currently 880 national police officersin Ceuta, 270 more than on 30 July, and 714 civilian guards, almost 200 more than before the massive arrival of migrants, and has explained that the aim is to facilitate the procedures provided for by law so that, once all the legal requirements have been met, these people can be expelled to Morocco.
The minister has acknowledged that normality has not yet fully recovered in the city, despite the return of most of the migrants who entered illegally, and in this context has ensured that the Spanish Government will continue to deploy the human resources necessary to restore the pre-crisis situation as soon as possible and to prevent a recurrence of the events of 30 and 31 July.
Asked about the possible risk of terrorism or radicalization associated with mass entry, Marlaska has ruled it out and pointed out that "there is no risk of terrorist threat ", but has explained that the authorities continue to monitor the people who participated in this entry and maintain constant communication with Morocco in the field of security and the fight against terrorism.
