The former president of Plus Ultra says he took on a 1% payment to "the Zapatero team."
Martínez Sola, former president and senior partner of this airline, has confirmed before the judge of the Audiencia Nacional José Luis Calama the letter in which he referred to the alleged loan of the name of Zapatero, Julio Martínez Martínez, and the "intention to collect" of the former president of the Spanish Government for allegedly mediating to obtain a state loan from the airline.
Legal sources have pointed out that this businessman has not explained what specific work Zapatero was going to do, since he did not follow up, but was based on the success of his management. Through it, former socialist leader Julio Martínez Martínez's friend asked him for 1% of the 53 million euros in aid that the airline got in 2021.
As did Martínez Martínez, the former president of Plus Ultra, who filed a letter of cooperation in July, confirmed on Monday a two-and-a-half hour statement in which he answered questions from the magistrate, prosecutor and lawyer.
The letter referred to the payment of an alleged 1% commission on the loan paid to several companies linked to Martínez Martínez, amounting to EUR 530,000.
A call from Zapatero
Martinez Sola has also insisted that on April 30, 2020, the former President of the Spanish Government called him through a hidden number; he transferred the company's situation to the former PSOE leader, who was then trying to access an ICO credit.
With these statements, Calama takes up the investigations in the Plus Ultra case, in which Zapatero investigates him for allegedly leading a network of influences in favor of Plus Ultra and other companies, while keeping open a separate piece for the 1.3 million euro jewels found in the office of the former president of the Spanish Government.
