From the airport of Vitoria, seven flights will depart to Andalusia, six to Seville and one to Jerez, while from the airports of Bilbao, San Sebastián and Pamplona, two flights will depart to Seville.

For the duration of the suspension, passengers wishing to travel to Cuba will be offered by Iberia to go to Panama and from there to the island. Iberia will keep its offices open in Havana. 

In total, more than 500 flights worldwide have been cancelled due to the strike called for this Friday by the staff of the Lufthansa cabin . 

Last Monday there were delays of up to 90 minutes and some flights were cancelled.

The agreement on airport infrastructures provides for the establishment of a cooperation body between the two administrations which, in accordance with the current competition regulations, will enable the Basque Country to intervene in strategic decisions.

The public company insists that the new bilateral body will be "merely advisory" and will not change its powers. It also warns that legislation may be compromised if the limits of the current regulations are exceeded.

Groundfroce workers in charge of packing and other airport services will make stops on Monday, Wednesday and Friday due to discrepancies within the negotiation of the new collective agreement.

The stops will begin on March 27 and will take effect on April 1 (Wednesday), April 3 (Good Friday) and April 6 (Easter Monday). Workers demand that the CPI differential and purchasing power be maintained. Handling would affect all airports in the state where that company provides service.

The purpose of the meeting is to ensure that airports do not lose the classification of general interest, but to create a bilateral organization to manage them.

The Spanish Government delegate to the ACV, Marisol Garmendia, believes that "an agreement will be reached" on the creation of a bilateral agency for the management of Basque airports. She has expressed a different view regarding the Port of Passages and has ruled out removing the classification of general interest, since the removal of this classification would "degrade the port and endanger the 400 direct jobs it has".

The company has opposed the transfer of airport management to the Basque Country and has announced an investment plan of almost EUR 13 billion, including the expansion of Loiu and improvements in Hondarribia and Foronda.

The spokesman for the Basque Government has called for the Basque Country to be able to participate in the document establishing investments of EUR 13 billion and to have the power to decide on fees and strategy.

The establishment of the Subcommittee on Airport Management and Infrastructure was agreed by the President, Imanol Pradales, and the President of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sánchez, in the Bilateral Cooperation Committee in July last year, with the aim of analysing and discussing the various forms of transfer in the management of airports in the Basque Country.

The price of flights has risen and in order to get to the game, fans have to face long stopovers or travel a day earlier, according to a flight metabilizer.

The Department of Safety of the Basque Government has activated the yellow warning  because the winds above 100 km/h are  in the exposed areas of Izkaia, especially in the western massifs. 

The four diverted flights have landed in Santander, where a Loiu-Barajas connection has been cancelled, with delays on three other flights.

In total, the Bizkaia terminal will host 2,368 flights during Christmas. Last Friday, 19 December, was the day with the largest number of scheduled operations, 137 in total, followed by Monday, 22 December, with 136 operations.

Because of the southern wind, the runway at Bilbao Airport has not been a safe place to land planes, and they have had to travel to Vitoria, Biarritz, Asturias and Madrid.
