4 and a half years' imprisonment for a teacher for contacting and threatening to have sex with underage students
The Gipuzkoa High Court has sentenced a Compulsory Secondary Education (ESO) teacher to four and a half years' imprisonment for approaching children under 16 with the aim of having sex over the Internet ("child grooming") and for threatening them.
The sentence also includes 20 days' permanent location for a minor sexual harassment offence and 4 years' probation after serving a prison sentence. The court finds it proven that the accused contacted three students from the school where he worked during the 2023-2024 course through a false profile on a social network.
The resolution states that the teacher had sex conversations with minors and, in two cases, put forward "serious proposals" for the meeting, which did not materialize because the centre's management detected the facts. The hearing has stressed that the aim was to "tighten a barrier of seduction" and prepare the area for possible sexual interactions.
The jury has highlighted the weight of the digital evidence obtained from the phones of minors, their "strong" and "permanent" testimony, as well as the statements of the centre's professionals, while rejecting the defendant's versionthat he was the alleged victim and concluding that he was seeking the proximity of girls for a sexual purpose.
