The hydrogen corridor in the Basque Country envisages 163 kilometres of pipeline running through 50 municipalities
The Basque Country network will be divided into two parts. According to the project designed by Enagás, the works will begin in 2028 and end in 2030 and will require an investment of EUR 400 million.

The hydrogen corridor planned by Enagás for the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country will run through 50 municipalities and envisages 163 kilometres ofpipeline. The project will consist of the bi section and requires an investmentof EUR 400 million .
The company that manages the gas network in Spain has announced on Monday in Santurtzi the project called Truncheon Network of Hydrogen Infrastructuresof the Basque Country , which has been attended by its president, Imanol Pradales; the Industry Advisor, Mikel Jauregi; the Secretary of State for Energy, Joan Groizard; the General Director of the Port Authority of Bilbao, General Director of the Port Authority of Bilbao.
The Spanish hydrogen network as a whole will be 2,600 kilometres long and will run through 13 autonomous communities. It is also planned to connect with Portugal and France by means of an underwater infrastructure connecting the European Union's first green hydrogen corridor (H2med). More than 80% will run parallel to the existing gas infrastructure and it is planned to add a branch connecting the Basque Country and France in the future.
The part of the infrastructure corresponding to the BasqueCountry will contribute to the implementation of the Basque Hydrogen Strategy , which provides for the production of 100,000 tonnes of green hydrogen and 300 MW of electrolysis by 2030.
In order to publicize the project of the Network, Enagás has designed aConceptual Plan for Public Participation , which includes an active hearing process 1 for the input of the administrations and citizens of the municipalities through which it passes. n the CAPVwill begin on 18 Decemberin Muskiz and end on 19 December.
At the presentation of the project, ImanolPradales lehendakari has expressed the Government's willingness to participate in the development of this infrastructure through the Basque Energy Organization (EVE) and has considered it necessary to "link the current route with Iparralde and Nouvelle-Aquitaine through Irun".
It is, he said, "a structural project in terms of competitiveness, employment, social cohesion, technological progress and sustainability that allows progress to be made in an intelligent decarbonization model without compromising the current competitiveness of our productive fabric."
