French Agriculture Minister Annie Genevard has announced that vaccinesagainst contagious nodular dermatosis in the south-west of the French state will begin on Monday. She has not announced any changes to the protocol, while farmers continue to protest.
"With farmers we will face the challenge of vaccinating a million animals as soon as possible, which is the way to deal with the disease. This vaccination is crucial," Genevard told radio station Europe 1.
Meanwhile, farmers in the Basque Country continue to mobilise. The first is in both directions, between Montréjeau (exit 17), Beskoitze (exit 3) and Urt (exit 4), as well as access to the A645.
In an open letter, Carole Delga , the socialist president of the Occitania region, has asked Prime Minister Sebastien Lecornu to intervene and establish a "sincere and honest" dialogue with farmers, "the only way to ease the tensions that are getting worse in many departments."
