Tubos Reunidos Workers mobilize in Bilbao at the ERE meeting to assist the committee in the face of the news
More than 300 workers have come to Bilbao to participate in the protest, according to the committee.
The workers of Tubos Reunidos are today on a day of strike and also of mobilisation , since from the first hour of the morning a large number of workers have gathered in Bilbao in the vicinity of the Euskalduna Palace to support the works council in connectionwith today's meetings with the company on the employment regulation dossier for 301 workers, where the company has decided to hold the meeting and not as before at the Amurrio plant.
The Tubos Reunion Works Committee in Amurrio had summoned the workers to meet this Thursday in front of the Euskalduna Palace, and they began to meet before 08:30, following a banner with the slogan"Tubos Reunion. No redundancies."
The Commission has specified that more than 300 workers have come to Bilbao to participate in this protest. The 24-hour strike at the Amurrio plant has been "fully continued". This call has also been raised at the Trapagaran plant, but in this case it has been called by the minority of ESK and LAB.
In statements to the media, the chairman of the Araba plant committee, Andrés García, has welcomed the fact that the workers have decided to support the trade union representatives despite the change in the meeting place. "Wherever we go, the workers will come," he added.
Garcia has pointed out that on Monday they were surprised by the company's decision to transfer the meetings on the ERE to Bilbao, which until now were held at the Amurrio plant itself, and has stated that they do not understand this change of position, since the committee had at some point proposed to hold a meeting in Trapagaran, but the company denied this possibility on the grounds that it was recorded in the minutes that the meetings should be held at the Alavesa plant.
Finally, the meeting on the ERE began at ten o'clock in the morning and at half-past one there will be another meeting on the change of working conditions. The staff will be concentrated in front of the Euskalduna Palace until two and a half o'clock in the afternoon.
At this Thursday's meeting, the chairman of the committee explained, the company will again be asked to withdraw the ERE. At the previous meeting, the company improved its offer but was not welcomed by the workers' representatives.
The company provided an income scheme for pre-retirees aged between 60 and 62, with 65 per cent of gross wages (including pluses and EPSVs), in addition to the Special Social Security Agreement (CESS), until the worker reaches the age of 61.
In the case of voluntary leave, it maintained a salary of 30 days per year worked, with a limit of 18 months, but increased by 1,500 euros per year worked, to a maximum of 10 years.
