Doctors are calling for a sectoral table to "change the structure of Osakidetza."
They report that the "overburdens" they suffer at work cause so-called "gum agendas" that extend unchecked, which has a direct impact on their health.
Doctors are calling for the creation of an autonomous sectoral table to address the "overload"of Basque public health, considering that"structural change"is necessary to ensure the survival of Osakidetza.
Representatives of the Basque Medical Platform and the MUD (United Medicos for their Rights) appeared before the Health Committee on Monday to discuss the working conditions of doctors in primary and hospital care.
They denounce the poor working conditions of health workers and insist on the need for a Basque regulation that blurs the profession in the face of political changes. They also reject the Framework Statute because, among other things, there are no clear limits on working hours and professionals are not recognised.
Doctors will also criticize the fact that by putting more patients on their agendas they suffer a high "overload"and report the collapse in the ER, which causes long days without proper rest.
They warn that it has a major impact on mental health among professionals and provide data: in 2024, more than 1,300 resident doctors left their specialty and 45% of doctors have symptoms of anxiety or depression, a situation that particularly affects primary care professionals, emergency services and many hospital consultations.
